A new roof means stripping the old covering off entirely, checking and repairing the timbers underneath, then rebuilding with breathable membrane, treated battens and new or reclaimed tiles. It is the right call when a roof has reached the end of its life rather than developed a single fault. Most houses take a few days once the scaffold is up.

Breathable membrane is run out and lapped correctly, treated battens are set to the tile gauge, and the covering goes back on with the correct fixings for the pitch and the exposure.
Ridge and hip tiles are bedded or dry fixed, verges and flashings are finished, and the site is swept and cleared before we leave.

A straightforward semi is usually a few days once the scaffold is up. A larger detached property, a complicated hipped roof or bad weather can push that out. We will give you a realistic timescale when we quote rather than an optimistic one.
For a full re-roof, yes. It is not an upsell. Stripping a roof safely means somewhere to stand and somewhere to stack tiles, and it is a legal requirement for work at that height.
Sometimes. Clay and slate often clean up and go back on, which can save money and keeps the house looking right. Concrete tiles that have started to flake are usually past it. We will tell you which you have got.
Yes. Modern breathable membrane replaces the old bitumen felt as a matter of course on a re-roof. Putting new tiles back over perished felt is the shortcut that causes the next problem.
We show you before we cover it back up. Replacing a length of rafter or a section of wall plate is normal on an older roof, and we would rather price it honestly with the roof open than pretend it was not there.
